Orencia Treatment

Hello Hello Hello! Today I had my Orencia Treatment. I just got home from the hospital. I'm super tired but I wanted to get this out. I had to do the video in 3 parts. And guess what? They are super short this time!

This is a picture of where I sit. Nice little set up.

Off to rest. Hope this is educational and informative.

  1. Thanks for posting about the Orencia treatment. It was very informative. If Humira doesn't work for me I will move on to Remicade. SO I guess my question is will I need a port or is that just a decision you decide with your doc? Kinda made me queasy just thinking about it. I suppose though it is nothing really bad.

  2. I'll have to watch those later (I can't do videos at work). Does that chair recline? My feet wouldn't touch the ground in them so I'd have to put them up.
My orencia has been postponed until Cigna decides I've tried everything else.

  3. Cammie thanks for the comment on my blog. I just wanted to let you know you don't need a port to receive the infusions. I have small veins that collapse in my arms. The only good veins I had were in my hands and after a year of treatments and blood tests my hands were developing scar tissue. My doctor decided to do the infusions every 3 weeks which is more frequent. They were having to stick me with a needle sometimes up to 5 times to get a vein. By the time I would go back for my next treatment my hands would just be starting to not hurt. We came to the decision that to save my hands it had to be done. My case is very extreme and treatment is aggressive because I am still young and the disease progressed so fast. Hope things get better for you and you don't have to deal with the infusions. I'm here if you need me.

Karen the chair does recline and you get a pillow and blanket. I have Cigna also and Orencia was a "prior auth" for me meaning my doctor just has to tell them I had tried all other therapies. Might be the case for you. Good luck.
